In line with updated Government advice, both the Botanic Garden and Arboretum are open to the public. To visit the Botanic Garden or the Arboretum you must pre-book a time slot.

How can I visit the Arboretum? 

To visit the Arboretum in Nuneham Courtenay you must book a time slot. We recommend you book in advance to guarantee a place, as there are limited tickets available for each time slot.

How can I visit the Botanic Garden? 

To visit the Botanic Garden in Oxford City Centre you must book a time slot. We recommend booking in advance to guarantee a place, as there are limited tickets available for each time slot. Please be aware: the Herbarium Room is closed, as well as all of our Glasshouses. You can explore the Glasshouses and Herbarium Room virtually with our virtual visit

I’m a Friend, do I still need to purchase a ticket online?

Please ensure you bring your valid membership card with you when you present your pre-booked ticket at the Welcome Centre, our front of house team are unable to check your membership at the door.

Please ensure you have a valid form of staff ID with you when you present your pre-booked ticket at the Welcome Centre.

Do I need to wear a face-covering? 

Yes, you are required to wear a face-covering when inside our Welcome Centers. The requirement to wear face coverings will not apply to those who have a legitimate reason not to including: 

  • Not being able to put on, wear, or remove a face covering because of a physical or mental illness or impairment, or disability

  • If putting on, wearing, or removing a face covering will cause severe distress

  • Where interacting with someone who uses lip reading to communicate, or who has social communication impairments

  • Children aged under 11 years (e.g. when in public spaces such as museums)

Will the shop be open? 

The shop at the Garden and at the Arboretum are closed. Our best-sellers are still available for you to click and collect from the Botanic Garden. 

Will the toilets be open? 

The toilets, accessible toilets, and changing facilities are open at the Botanic Garden. There are additional cleaning and social distancing measures in place to ensure our staff’s and our visitors’ safety. This is subject to change. The Lodge toilets at the Arboretum are closed.

Can I park at the Botanic Garden? 

No, there is no on-site parking at the Garden. Our nearest car park is St Clement's car park.

Can I park at the Arboretum? 

Yes, there is on-site parking at the Arboretum, free with your entrance ticket.

Can I bring my own food and drink? 

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own food and drink.

Is there a bike store available?

There is no bike storage available at the Arboretum and cycling is not permitted on site. There is limited bike storage outside the Garden. 

How will I find my way around? 

Paper maps are available or you can download a map of the Arboretum and a map of the Garden to find your way around during your visit.

Group bookings are cancelled until further notice.

Are dogs allowed? 

Dogs are not permitted at the Botanic Garden or the Arboretum, with the exception of registered assistance dogs (these may be required to wear an identification coat or marker on their lead or harness).
