Natural Photography Workshop

Leave the cameras at home and try a photography workshop with a difference. Create your own beautiful prints from plants and explore a new experimental photographic technique that references Sir John Frederick William Herschel’s discoveries in the 1800s. Using tree materials and pigments, you will coat an emulsion onto paper, dry and expose to create colourful silhouettes using natural chemicals from plants and the power of the sun.

Megan Ringrose is a photochemical researcher and artist devising new natural photographic processes. Her contemporary photographic practice is informed by exploring the history and invention of photography. Megan has dedicated her experimental practice to making images with as many natural ingredients as possible. The workshop will highlight the Sequoiadendron giganteum and oak galls both of which occur at Harcourt Arboretum.
