Event description
During this workshop, you will get hands-on experience and by the end of the session you’ll be equipped with all the knowledge and skills required to lay your own hedge. The day will cover techniques used to cut and bend stems, install stakes to add strength and stability and how to bind them together. We will also discuss how regular trimming can keep the hedge in good order for many years to come. By laying a hedge you will create a living barrier and encourage new growth; an excellent way of regenerating an old hedge. Hedgerows host a diversity of flora and fauna, providing a network of wilderness in which wildlife can feed, breed and thrive. The thickly-woven branches of a well-laid hedge offer a habitat for insects, birds and small mammals. Please bring a packed lunch.
