Hedge laying competition - Saturday 28th February, 2026
Visitor entry from 10am-4pm (last entry 3pm). The competition will end at 2.30pm before judging takes place
Join us at Harcourt Arboretum as we host a Novice Hedge Laying Competition, celebrating this traditional countryside craft. Throughout the day, competitors will be working along the Arboretum’s hedgerows, demonstrating skill and technique as they lay either Midland or South of England style hedges within a five‑hour window.
This event will be run in association with Countryside Charity Oxfordshire and Wild Oxfordshire. Visitors are warmly invited to watch the competition in progress and learn more about this important conservation skill. Entry to the Arboretum is free for this event, and our friends at Horsebox Coffee will be on site serving hot drinks. We hope to see you there.
