Oxford Botanic Garden and Arboretum announces programme of Half Term events

A fun-packed programme of family-friendly events has been planned for the October Half Term week, all taking place at Harcourt Arboretum.

From insects and hawks to trees and walks, there will be something for everyone; as well as the chance to explore 130 acres of woodlands and meadows and take in the amazing autumn colours.

The week starts with The Wonderful World of Insects on Monday 24th October - an entertaining and interactive show, with insect handling and insect-based activities for all the family to enjoy. The activities will be running all afternoon from 12pm - 4pm, with live shows at 12.30pm and 2.30pm. Book tickets for the Wonderful World of Insects

On Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th, you can join our staff for an autumnal Arboretum adventure, with our Half Term Family Walks. Taking place at 1.30pm on Tuesday, and 10.30am and 1.30pm on Wednesday, there will be stories, challenges, mindful moments and fun facts along the way. Book tickets for Half Term Family Walks

We are excited to welcome back family favourite HawkWalk on Friday 28th, for a fantastic falconry display. You’ll be able to see dazzling aerial displays from hawks, owls and falcons and learn more about these amazing flying hunters, with shows at 12.30pm and 2.30pm. Book tickets for HawkWalk

Rounding off the week on Sunday 30th October is our grand finale with Arbor the Tree. Part man, part tree and 18 feet tall, Arbor will be striding around the Arboretum, telling his story of a tree pushed out from his home, and his fight to preserve his future. There will be two shows, at 11.30am and 1pm. Book tickets for Arbor the Tree
