Marvellous Meadow day

Seasonal events | Harcourt Arboretum

Immerse yourself in the spectacular surroundings of Harcourt Arboretum's glorious 67 acres of parkland and wildflower meadows, or stroll amongst our shaded woodlands. With appearances from Alice in Wonderland characters; gin tasting and a gin talk with Professor Simon Hiscock; stalls including pizza, local pork, beer and cider, and Nutmeg + Thyme plant based food; plants from Cutteslowe community garden; Nuneham Pottery; and even barrel organ music, you're sure to be entertained.

Spot dragonflies along the serpentine ride and take a moment to enjoy the fascinating shapes of the many seed pods beginning to appear. In the meadow, vetch, yellow-rattle and sorrel all clatter and jangle with seeds. Look out for special gems such as pyramidal orchids (Anacamptis pyramidalis) and the distinctive ragged robin (Lychnis flos-coculi) which are at their best in June.

Get creative and bring your family along to our family-friendly stall for some fun. Can you make a beautiful butterfly or a flourishing flower? Go for a scavenger hunt around the Arboretum or build a mini den out of sticks. After a stroll, grab a bite at one of the tasty food stalls, have a drink at the brewery stall and finish off with a delicious ice cream. Don't forget to visit our stalls and boutique to shop for some souvenirs such as lovely soaps, cards, gin, jams and more.
